My journey battling intestinal strictures (narrowings)

When you're living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), it's crazy how long you accept things as your normal, or new normal, so I've probably been experiencing 'changes' for possibly over 3 years. These changes, it turns out, are due to intestinal strictures (narrowings). We can’t be sure whether I have them because of my Crohn’s disease or from previous surgeries. I saw my consultant in London in August 2021. I was referred to a dietitian for advice on what would be best for me health-wise, and that I can also tolerate with my strictures (they can be very painful). I had my bile acid malabsorption (BAM) medication increased and had an MRI planned to look at my strictures to see if dilation was a possibility. I was also referred to a hospital in Manchester, where we'd moved to. Three strictures were picked up on the MRI scan I had around the end of 2021. Money raised by #IBDSuperHeroes is solely invested in funding for Inflammatory Bowel Disease research. The project is run by the group members, involving them in every aspect of the fundraising and helping us drive our mission forward. Every quarter there will be a pinned post (pinned at the top of the group) for members to add their fundraising and awareness raising ideas to. At the end of each quarter we will have a poll which members will then vote on, the winner will be announced and the group members can then have as much or as little involvement as they like in the planning and coordination.
