The latest figures suggest that Inflammatory Bowel Disease
(IBD) affects one in every 125 people in the United Kingdom. That
is projected to rise to over one in 100 by 2028.
With that in mind, we wanted to make that 125 into a challenge for World IBD Day (May 19th), to raise funds for Cure Crohn's Colitis (C3)! We choose to fundraise for C3 because 100% of the money they receive gets invested in IBD research.
Of course, we know that everyone’s physical fitness levels
will be different, especially after many have needed to shield during COVID-19.
It’s also likely that your interests and what you can and can’t physically do
will differ too.
Some of our team are challenging themselves to 12,500 steps
on World IBD Day. Some may be able to aim for 125,000 over the week! You might want
to swim 125 lengths over a week, or you might fancy a different sport or hobby such
as rock climbing, darts, juggling, golf, or gardening… You could plant 125 flowers. Cycle 1.25 miles. Bake 125 cupcakes. Whatever you want - get
creative with YOUR 125!
We have created a Facebook event for everyone doing their own personal challenge for C3 to share updates. Don’t forget to ask friends and family for sponsorship! If you create a JustGiving page for C3, we'd LOVE it if you'd join the IBDSuperHeroes team page! When you're logged in to JustGiving, click here and then "join the team".
Share your training/progress, and updates on the day on social media using hashtag #My125. Don’t forget to join the Facebook event page too!
